Greetings!
My name is Cheri Rizzo-Gerdes and I am what you would probably call an OLDER student (although I would hope you wouldn't call me that to my face! I am not really THAT old!) I have returned to college to acquire a degree in Psychology, and hope to eventually become a Marraige and Family Therapist. My pipe dream is to have a radio call-in show like Dr. Laura's (only maybe not so mean). I already have an associate's degree in Higher Accounting but I decided a few years ago that I didn't want to spend the rest of my life working in an office and counting beans. So I made the decision (at my age!) to change my life course and go become what I really want to be when I grow up. Actually, I have learned that I love school and if I could I would find a way to become a professional student. To many of you that may sound the same as eating live bugs, but when you get older you will understand.
I am a native Californian, but have lived half of my life in Dayton, Ohio and half here. I have raised 4 sons pretty much on my own and I am very proud of all of them. They are all good men and I think I did ok as a parent. I have 2 bio grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren, but I don't see them often since they live in Ohio with their parents. I was widowed at the age of 25 and have experienced a couple of marraiges since then that didn't turn out so well. But my happy ending is that about 4 years ago I happened to connect with my first love (I was 14 and he was 15) through classmates.com. We were separated by our evil parents 28 years ago and swore to each other that someday we would defy the odds and be together again. After years of negative relationship experiences and learning who we are by growing up and raising our own families, we finally found each other again and it's as if we were never apart. You really CAN go back again!
My favorite thing to do is read and it makes me happy to know that there will always be millions of books that I haven't read yet just waiting for me to discover them. (I am also a frustrated writer, but who isn't?) My goal is to someday buy a house near the California coast and live where I can see the ocean every day. Then my life would be bliss.
I am looking forward to becoming an accomplished blogger and I hope that at least some of the things I have to say will cause some of you to think and want to exchange ideas with me.

Welcome. Congratulations on your return to school. I feel that it will be great getting to know you through your blogs.
Yes, good work on getting back to school. I'm in the same boat...looking to go from an associates to a bachelors after a few years out of school. Looking forward to your future posts!
Good intro. Very promising start.........
Sounds like you've already had quite an interesting story. I think that's great that you have a dream job and are taking steps towards achieving it!
Hello Cheri - I too am a returning student (an OLDER student) and would really like to make your friends list.
